What is the difference between a web page and a website?
A website is made up of a home page and usually a number of web pages (sometimes referred to as inner or inside pages). Each website must have its own unique domain name such as www.vortexit.com. Of course, a single web page can make a "complete" website, but for a professional image a website usually, comprises of between 20 and 200 individual web pages. Most corporate websites are between 20 and 50-pages; though some websites can be over 10,000 pages!

Which tools do you specialize in?
We have web and graphic designers and programmers that specialize in the whole range of tools such as ASP,PHP,SQL,HTML, Javascript, CSS, PERL, CGI, XML, DHTML, ColdFusion, Flash, Photoshop and many others.

Why should I use you?
You are treated as individual as the solutions we provide. All websites are custom designed. From the start, we take the time to listen. You will get a single point of contact. Your website is revised until you are completely satisfied; no ifs, buts or maybes. You get 30-days of free support even after delivery. As we can offer web and graphic design, database and e-commerce solutions i.e. shopping carts and website marketing, it means we can handle all your requirements in a seamless fashion. You can access our specialists to deliver quality traffic through our proven marketing solutions, such as, search engine optimization and pay per click search engine campaigns.

What are your services?
Web design, graphic and logo design, database development, Flash animation, e-Commerce solutions, website marketing including pay-per-click (PPC) search engine campaigns, search engine optimization (SEO) and consultancy services.

Can you redesign an existing website?
Yes. many of our clients choose to redesign a previous website. While content changes are usually made by the client according to need, we often find that technological advances mean a restructure is often beneficial.

What is the typical turnaround for a project?
It varies according to the length and complexity of the project. For example, a 25-page website where all the content is prepared in advance will usually take 15 working days to complete. Obviously, the bigger and the more complex the project the greater the time that needs to be spent. Logos can be designed in 5 working days, while database and e-commerce projects will be slightly longer.

Do you provide images?
Yes we have a source of royalty free images. Alternatively, if you already have images that you wish to use we can optimize them also.

Can you undertake website maintenance?
Yes, as part of all projects, we will continue to support you for 30-days free after delivery for minor changes and bug fixes. After that we can discuss terms. We are usually very flexibile and available to offer advice. Most changes are minor and can be done quickly. Some changes are structural, like changing the navigation system and that requires slightly more time.

I want to update my website, how can I do it?
If you are familiar with HTML then you can use a tool such as Frontpage or Dreamweaver to create your pages. If you require us to build a "content management system" to assist you in maintaining your website we can. Many clients prefer this custom built solution.

I have a database can you make it work with my website?
Yes, often this will save you weeks of work and it is something we would look to do. Even if you do not currently have a database but your website requires one (i.e. for searching) then we can undertake the project.

How can I contact you?
You can contact us via MSN, telephone, email, web form or writing to us.

Do you need to visit us?
Most of our communication can be done via one of the above methods. As our client base is worldwide, we are available around the clock. Our main office is in Kent and if UK clients require a visit we can oblige.

Do you offer a free quote?
Yes, please visit our quote page.

What are your fees?
Our fees vary according to the length of your project and the skills involved, but are fixed in advance so you can budget with certainty. Fees for a website start from £299 for a simple 5 page design. More typically, for a complete corporate website with flash elements, secure online forms, a content management system and 30-days support the cost is approximately, $6000 (£3500 or €5000).

How am I billed for your services?
50% deposit on instruction and 50% on completion.

How can I pay?
You can pay through a bank transfer, cheque or Paypal.

Do you offer a guarantee or support?
We want you to be completely satisfied. Even before we begin to design we talk through the issues answering all your questions in plain english. We only commence when you are sure it's right for you. We keep you informed and seek your input throughout the process. We keep going until you are 110% satisfied. In cases where you change your mind midway through a project, you will forfeit your 50% deposit. I am glad to say because of our methodology this has never happened before. Further, we offer 30-days free support after the project has been delivered.

Am I tied into any long contracts with Vortex IT?
No. The contract lasts for as long as the project.

Do I have to pay any other costs?
No, apart from where you select a pay-per-click search engine marketing campaign, in which case you pay for the clicks.

What if I need to change my project midway?
In all other cases apart from cancellation, we will prepare a new quote. If you require additional work than was initially agreed to we will requote you and adjust the deposit accordingly.

Will you work with clients internationally?
Yes, our clients are worldwide spanning many countries and industries.

What is the difference between a search engine, a directory and a pay per click search engine?
People often make the mistake of thinking Google, Yahoo , DMOZ and Overture are all search engines. Google is a traditional search engine. Google sends out something called a "spider" to crawl the internet. As it comes across pages the spider records information and ranks the pages on the basis of words, titles, layout, tags. When a surfer queries Google, results are displayed according to relevance of the words typed in.

DMOZ is a directory. Human editors visit websites and catagorize them placing them in a hierarchial index. When you visit DMOZ and click on an index heading like "Computers and Internet" sub categories are shown. Here is an example:

Computers and Internet >> Business to Business >> Services >> Internet & Web >> Web Designers

Finally you have pay per click search engines like Overture. There really is no mystery to it. On the one hand, surfers type in a keyword or phrase and on the other hand, you bid on keywords and phrases. The order in which the results are shown depend on the level of your bids placed relative to other bids.

If your bid is the highest for a keyword, your listing will be shown at number one. If your bid is second, you will be given second spot and so on. As there is a direct correlation between search query and search results, surfers and businesses get excellent results.

We offer search engine optimization and pay-per-click search engine services. Please contact us for more information.
